Murshidabad Silk Saree

Murshidabad silk is known for its premium quality of silk. Murshidabad is famous for its Murshidabad silk saree made of fine mulberry silk. Murshidabad silks are also popular for hand printed designs and other materials which are also printed in wooden blocks.  This silk is very fine, lightweight and easy to drape. Historically, Bengal was the main silk-weaving for  Murshidabad silk in the center of India. Murshidabad is the second largest silk producing district in West Bengal. The silk sarees are weaved in a loom. The most common loom is called Pit Loom. For weaving a silk saree in handloom it takes approximately 5-7 days to weave one saree.
